MOst companies, for some kind of employees, they do not allow you to do moonlight work or consulting work for the other company.
If there is NO this kind of limitation on your offer letter, or, if your new company is in different industry, it is a great chance for you to earn some $$ from your old company as a contractor.
Find out the policy about your new company. Do not ask this kind question to the new manager. Do not discuss this know of question to the people in your new company.
