Do more networking. Look for non-IT companies.

For example, my work is in the IT field in HealthCare, which is safer I think. Try to go to different social events, writting blogs,papers about what you did, especially the projects and try to publish them, go to different organizations' homepage and search for jobs there, some of them don't post in Monstors.com, etc. For example, go to IBM's web site and search for jobs, keep good relationship with your employer, so that you can get good reference, etc. Go to Linkedln, facebook, etc. ask for recommendations, or start looking for jobs in China, I always think China is better than here, if I didn't find my job here, I would go back to China and work there. Anyway, don't panic. Good luck!
