First of all, 110K base in L.A. == 130K or more in S.V. You actually take a pay cut. (BTW, don't argue with me about my formula, you are a nut if you can't figure out this).
The 1700 share stock option == nothing. You gain nothing unless the stock goes up. Say the stock goes up from $30/share to $35/share in 2 years, you gained (35-30)*1700=8500 pre-tax. After tax, it's about 6K or 3K per year == insignificant side money.
What you got is an exciting project with no title change! You are basically a principle or senior engineer. Forget it.
May I know your manager's last name? I guess is Wang. You should check out his background. He is from Taiwan and you are from Mainland. There is only one way you can work out with Taiwanese or you supervise him not the other way around.
It's in general very difficult to justify a move to a more expensive area unless you receive a premium.
$125K in S.V. is NOT a highly compensated package at all!
If someone offers you $110K in Arizona, it's worth $150K in S.V., it's then a premium even if there is no title change.
