In the 1st on-site interview, HR told me the salary range of each title. After the interview, the HR ask me if accept the salary range between 65k-70k. I told him, it is too low. the next day, he called me again and told me the final number is 63k in the offer. It is wired, why the hiring manager did thing in this way? I told them I cannot accept the position because it is lower than my current position. The hiring manager asked me if it is my only concern. I answered "yes". He told me they made a mistake to put intermedia level position. Then HR told me only the title was changed. The salary kept the same as before. I asked them why the salary was not updated according to the position? They told me there is no relationship between salary and position. My feeling is really bad. Although the salary is a little bit higher than my current one, but I am not happy since the hiring manager reduced the salary in this way. Is it frequently happen in canada or the U.S.? This is the first time to deal with this type of thing. Please advise.
thanks a lot
