P.S. what do you think how your salary is decided? it is the HR who give the range and hiring manager who decides the actual offer number. So there are potentially 2 persons who can affect your offer, the horing manager and the HR and nobody else has a say on it. You got to be crazy to threat your HR contact.

If you manage to have good conversation with the HR, she/he could suggest to the hiring manager by saying " hi, i think he/she has really good qualifications and he/she is really nice and sweet, would you like to consider put him/her in high end of the range?". This happens way often when the HR person really likes you.
