The market drives the price, not your agent.

You agent (buyer agent) wants you to get the house so he and his buddy (the listing agent) can receive the commission.  He is giving you an advantage by telling you that there are other offers and they are higher than yours.  From his email, it sounds like the bank ( seller) wants all offer be submitted and the bank will choose which one to accept.  In this case, he is basically saying you have a very low (or none) chance of getting it if you keep your offer price as is.
