consumer is only one aspect of the big picture, so are the quality, marketing, cost, safety and many other factors.
toyota's success vs big three's current tough situation is not just the difference in marketing, there are many reasons behind that. So as the safety issue, it is neither just the crashworthy in the crash test nor just the thickness of the steel as some of the people claimed all along.
you certainly know what you are trying to say and what you want other to believe in. no-one here is that dumb. and you know that too :)
