Just tell your kid that you are available anytime or anything  he/she needs you. Try to get help from the university  mental health support services. If you can get the advice to allow you kid to reduce some work loads, work with (write/call/ meet) the faculty, top down, from the falculty chairman/president/dean, to someone in charge with the student affair, to student counselor. The student counselor will coordinate the student workload with individual professors to rearrange assignments, deadlines, specific exam arrangement, etc. to meet the student's situation. This may help to take off some workload related anxiety/depression. Be proactive and take actions as early as possible. Helps always there but you need to act.
