恢复merit based 招生，首先啥是merit？有一个统一标准吗？

merit based 是不是仅仅指会读书，会考试，高GPA，会做竞赛，会做research，才能算是merit based? 社会上那些政策制订者当初读书的时候，恐怕没几个是一门心思读书会考试的，那么他们为啥制定出来的政策为啥会倾向华裔认同的merit呢？

华裔认同的merit, 基本上必须得单打独斗才能练就出来。那些混得好的，有几个是单打独斗出来的？靠贵人靠运气都比靠自己单打独斗，靠谱得多。
