Of course everyone will say it doesn’t matter as long as you love the person, but I noticed that high earning people tend to love other high earning people in the overwhelming majority of cases.

What’s surprising to me is that while there’s a stereotype that women go for men with high status and men go for women with good looks, I’ve found that the latter is partially untrue — when it comes to casual relationships (eg ONS, FWB) men select for looks but when it comes to anything longer term men will still select for high status women even if they’re not the best looking women in their option set. You almost never see an investment banker with a Trader Joe’s cashier girlfriend for example, even if the cashier is stunning.
