本科GPA低，如何申请读Master？

替朋友问：工程类专业毕业（州立大学学校排名50多），本科GPA低， <3.0, 原因主要是大学一二年级没有抓紧学习。现工作一年多，想读Master，请问有没有可能被类似档次的州立的大学录取？不知是否需要请申请顾问帮忙一下，这样可能会有所帮助？请这儿的朋友们给提供些建议。谢谢了！
