饶毅的论证和结论都没有道理 (1)

饶毅是个很有成就的生物科学家。早期来美留学，做到教授后回到北京大学做院长。最近写了一篇文章说是“上顶尖大学：华人父母误子弟而不知“， 还上了子女教育的精华帖。饶毅的这篇文章的论证方法和结论不光没有说服力，还是错误的。

饶毅的第一个结论就是“那就是对于大多数华人的孩子来说，上顶尖学校也可能对其造成影响一生的负面作用”。

他的观点依靠的根据是“因为绝大多数华人或没进过顶尖院校，或即便进过但也不愿对外讲出全部事实——特别是不令人喜悦的事实；也因为华人父母经常简单地迷信，或臆测顶尖大学的好处“。 饶毅在文章中，从本科跳到研究生， 主要是生物方面的研究生来支持他的观点。首先，从本科跳到研究生，又只局限生物方面，就极大地降低了说服力。这个本科和研究生混在一起写的很勉强。这样写估计是想支持他自己前述的观点，因为饶毅先说了“因为绝大多数华人或没进过顶尖院校”， 而他是在UCSF读的PhD，属于顶尖的生物研究院，所以知道内幕。事实上，“虽然大多数华人没进过顶尖院校，或即便进过但也不愿对外讲出全部事实——特别是不令人喜悦的事实”， 但美国的好多数据都是公开可以查到的，让我们用数据来看看饶毅的观点和结论对不对。

饶毅写道“顶尖的大学本科应该也有这些问题：那里聚集了最顶尖的美国学生，有些功课极端好，有些家庭背景很强。一般的中国人都会因此受挫，所以大部分这些院系的中国学生后来都未能在学术上有所成就，原因是自信心没了。

他们不会告诉父母，更不会写文章告诉大家。在劣势中坚持信心，绝大多数华人（特别是X二代，包括移民二代）都不具备这种心理素质。“

饶毅的文章从本科到研究生来回跳，我就先就本科生的情况来反驳一下饶毅。

第一，顶尖大学确实集聚了最顶尖的学生，但并不是一般的中国人都会因此受挫。华裔在顶尖大学里的学习平均一点都不次，一样具有竞争力。 比如Phi Beta Kappa 只选拔学业顶尖的学生，不管是GPA高，还要看选的课的难度。耶鲁大学2015届的毕业生中的senior 期间PBK接受了67名 （Yuri Ahuja           Molecular Biophysics & Biochem                SM

上述耶鲁，哈佛等的数据应该说明中国的学生进了顶尖大学，并没有像饶毅说的那样，受挫，自信心没有了，而是照样具有竞争力，做的非常出色。

第二，大多数顶尖大学的学生不去搞研究，所以拿研究来比较就没有道理。不可否认，在美国的工作生活，赚钱多少比有多少人做教授要重要的多来衡量成功不成功。 就是比有多少人来做教授（包括各科的），我估计顶尖大学毕业的华裔按毕业生比例一定不会低。

 

饶毅的下面这段话写的更没有道理。“美国能源部部长、诺贝尔物理学奖得主朱棣文的哥哥Gilbert Chu，当年读小学和中学时考试分数特别高（高到他的两个弟弟都在中小学期间自愧弗如，小弟在没读完高中的情况下就弃学而逃）。Gilbert Chu后来去哈佛念本科，拿了两个博士学位，然后到斯坦福做教授，但他的名字并不为大多数人所知，原因是他后来并未取得特别成就。而Gilbert Chu的两个弟弟，一个上了罗彻斯特（Rochester）大学，一个读了洛杉矶加州大学（UCLA），都不是顶尖大学，就本科而言，这两所大学甚至连“次尖”也算不上。但朱家的老二和老三却成绩斐然：老二成为物理学家；老三当了大律师，曾创下专利案最高补偿纪录。“

第一，这只是小样本的事件，没有统计意义。大家应该知道有个数学家张宜唐最近解决了一个数学难题做出了突出的贡献。这些难题全世界的顶尖大学的数学家们好多年都没有解决。按照饶毅的逻辑推论，是不是只有在中餐馆打工十年，才是培养数学家的最佳途径？ 第二，Gilbert Chu拿了 两个博士，做到斯坦福的教授，已经是非常成功。为什么非要和他两个弟弟比高低？
