The cultural enviornment, government and you all take positions.

 All the parties involved take biased and confused views that complicate matters and manufacture conflicts necessarily. It should be the right and freedom of a group of people (that of course may include m men and w women) to form a union (and lead lives however they see fit --- it is none of others' business), so long as the group does not inflicts damage on the property rights of any other individuals. The government has only the obligation and power to enforce the contract and protect property rights. As for how to teach your kids about homosexuals, the life style of the homosexuals is only one of myriad ways people can choose to lead their lives, including polygamy and being religious vs atheists. It is simple as that.
