The acceptance rate is quite misleading.

There is a major difference to the college application process between the public and private high schools. In public schools, any one can apply to any colleges, while the students in private schools cannot. Thus, more unqualified students would apply to more colleges, bringing down the acceptance rate. While in a private school, a student can only apply to those colleges in their reach, thus bringing up the acceptance rate. The fact is that the same student would not have much difference for the college entrance after attending to private or public schools.
