First of all, no matter which side of the argument you are on, the kid is a great kid.  We offer sincere congrats to her.

This is not about  酸葡萄.  To say we are jealous about her and her daughter, it is just like saying we are jealous about Bill Gates is the richest person on earth (ok, 2nd richest) because we do not know the lady and her daughter.  Our kids do not know her kid.  There is nothing to be jealous about.

This is about honesty and fairness.  Sure, in some cases, hun*****ands go back to China and discard their spouse and kids. They do not send single red-cent to the spouse and kids in the U.S.  If that is the case for this lady and her daughter.  The kid deserves every single penny financial aid she will get from Harvard.  On the other hands, if the hun*****ands support the spouses and kids in the U.S. (like "Keane" said), I am pretty sure that it is NOT through a W-2 form, which means no reporting to IRS.  If there is no income tax return, the school would not know.  Therefore, I have to say that is totally unfair and cheating.  For those of us in the U.S having a kid going to college this fall, we all know that how most of the schools go to extra length to ensure fairness in giving out financial kids.  We have to fill out detailed CSS Profile and submit signed 2010 income return (for some schools, it is the entire return, not just first two pages).  You provide detailed and honest information (the information you send to IRS) to the schools and let them decide.  We accept the dicision as being fair.  When we see people try to cheat the system, of course, we are not happy about it.

For those of you calling this is  酸葡萄, I highly doubt that you have a kid going to college.  If you have been through the application process, you would understand what we try to say.
