酸葡萄思想：读州大的好处

版上大都讲藤校好，我认为读藤校应该是两种人去读：有钱人的孩子和穷人的孩子。一个是根本无所谓钱，另一个是拿钱免费的读，像这里大多数的中产阶级就只有出血一途。用近二十五万换个学位相比之下，读州大的好处就显出来了。

第一，我们的孩子都是小鱼塘里的大鱼，拿个full ride读州大比比皆是。从投资回报率来看非常之好。

第二，我们很多人想读医，像德州一共有八个医学院只有贝勒是私立，其他七个公立医学院必须招75%以上的本州学生。所以读州大反而更容易进。这也是为什么Rice的pre med可以有94%成功率！我知道有好几个医生是哈佛和杜克的医学院毕业生在德州开业，但在当地都是强龙不压地头蛇因为州大医学院的校友铺天盖地，不怕没有病人。

第三，就是不读医，读其他的譬如工程的也是有好处的。像德州A&M大学的毕业生，只要hiring manager是Aggie的，基本就拿到offer了。因为Aggie有这个传统，必须要帮助自己的校友。

当然了，读州大的一个不好的地方就是父母不能像藤爸藤妈那样春风得意。不过几年之后，who cares?
