copy 一段简史 :) Vermont City Marathon officials, citing dangerous heat, stopped Sunday's running of the annual race at 11:58 a.m., about the four-hour mark.
This is the first time in the race's 28 years the marathon has been canceled due to heat.
Officials closed the course, sent buses to pick up runners who have yet to finish and issued the following statement:
"Race conditions have reached extreme level of the Emergency Alert System. Race is discontinued. Please proceed to the nearest aid station for further instruction."
The Burlington Fire Department reported on Twitter before the race was called that there were "multiple runners down throughout the course."
