FROZEN PIPE WARNING: The next few days are going to be extreme and WILL freeze pipes in your home near outside walls. Some houses do not have the walls properly insulated near the pipes. A frozen pipe can do 5K to 20K or more in damage very quickly. This is not the time to cut back on heat and water. If you like to sleep with cooler temps, keep the thermostat up higher till you go to bed. Make sure you're running water every few hours; even if you don't need to. When you wake up in the middle of the night flush toilets and run the sink for a few minutes. A few dollars on your water bill costs a lot less than a broken pipe. Showers or sinks near outside walls need to be turned on periodically. Faucets near the walls you may want to have both the hot and cold water going with a slow steady drip. This can prevent freezing or pressure build up if the water is not running. Do Not let those sinks sit unused for days during these freeze days. If you hear water flowing in pipes and no water is turned on.......you waited too long. Heads up southern states this is especially important to you. Good luck. Stay warm and Dry!!!
