I think you should consult your accountant or a lawyer before you do anything. It won't cost much money and it is money well spend. If you do something wrong here, it could cost you thousands in the future. So don't try to save money now.

If you did set up your small business right, its bankruptcy should not affect your personal credit. (That is the beauty to own a small business.) You want to know what the best way to claim bankruptcy. There are several options. Consult a professional.
