Nowdays, a fresh cs with a year or two experience can get $100k -$150k
Base salary, so $400k total compensation for senior SW engineer is not that out of reach.
Total compensation changes every year though.
BTW, $400k nowprobably = $200k 10year ago.in bay area, even worth less if not worthless.
