my experience to handle the fleas

We had a apt which had serious flea infestination. After getting suggestions from JY, what we did is:

1. Sent a letter to the tenant stating it is the tenant's fault to get fleas problem.

2. We hired a professional pest control company to spread chemicals 3 times. As courtesy to the tenant, we paid 50% of the cost and asked the tenant to pay another 50%. This got full cooperation from the tenant during the whole process.

3. Since the tenant does not have much money, we asked him to pay 10 times, about $30/month for the pest control cost.

It is your house and you do not want the situation getting worse and worse. So it is better to get pest control done first. Since each side paid 50% of the cost, both of us are happy. To completely get rid of fleas, you need to have the tenant vacuum the carpet everyday. Therefore his cooperation is very important. 

If the tenant pay certain amount of cost, such as 50%, he should be careful next time.
