紧急求救:Las Vegas 投资房被告,请大拿帮忙出主意

我在LasVegas 有一投资房,几个月前因为水管泄漏,房顶掉下来。付了$1000 deductible, 保险公司负责余下赔偿。我当时很不高兴,因为漏水不是一天两天的事。Renter 应及时报告。我的property manager 建议我算了。应为renter 都按时交房租。
一星期后,garage 顶又发现有水迹。property manager and renter agree to monitor it closely. 我们同时找KelTech contract  公司打算把水管全部更换。被告知等到秋季可能有多余资金。(Keltech fault plumbing settlement fund)
三个月前, living room 顶又发现漏水。property manager send a handy man to fix it. He found out he doesn't have the right tool so went out to buy correct size tools. While he's out and the renter's out, suddenly, master bedroom 顶水管爆了。等他们回来, 已经全淹了。
Renter 要求取消合同搬走。我们都同意了。然后开始修房子。
清理公司把家具搬到房外。 renter 要求我们赔偿家具和personal property damage because of water. We didn't agree. Since we have in contract that require renter buy renter's insurance for incident like this and they didn't. Our insurance company doesn't cover as well.
They hired an lawyer to send us a letter ask for money and complain that it's the negligent of the property manager and sent the handyman not a licensed plumber that casued the second ceiling collapse and flood. We ignored and we didn't think they are serious because there's no base since the plumbing that cause the flood is not even the place the handyman is trying to fix.
Now my property manager received their formal court notice and  I read through. This time they lied that they reported the first incident that was ignored so it casued the first  ceiling collapse. And it's the handyman that caused the second flood. And ask for damager plus 精神赔偿 $15000.
I am pretty angry about it. Want to sue them back for not report the first leakage which caused the first incident.
The property manager talked with a lawyer and her idea is that it will go to a jury eventually, who is right or wrong is not important and the jury will biased toward the renter anyway. If they loose, they don't loose anything since they don't pay ahead. If they win, it will be payment and plus their laywer fee which could amount to even higher. So we should settle instead of go ahea.
My property manager is scared now. She ask me to pay $2500 and rest of it will be out of their company's pocket. But I just can accept that by lying, the renter actually scam money out of me.
Don't know if anyone has similar experience and should we sue them back and go ahead with the lawy suit or not. Any advice is appreciated.
