the trend is for large employer to dump DB and move to defined contribution plan.
DC pan is portable, and you can convert it to IRA down the road for self-management.
Most DB plans are under-funded, especially the ones run by government.
I always like DC plan, but DB has its own advantages.

one major concern is the safety of employer
