I remember seeing an article last year saying that Congress might consider removing this non-deductible traditional IRA, since it is mainly for rich people's benefit (think about those people are not qualified by Roth IRA). So you should feel good that you are on their radar screen :-).
As 2526 and 长老 explained, the good part is you can delay tax on ALL gains (while in regular taxable accounts, even if you buy SP500 index SPY for 30+ years, you still pay tax on dividends, also how many of us can hold onto something for 30 years?); the bad part is you need to do more paper work (record all your contributions, I think you don't need to report transactions to IRS every year) than deductible traditional IRA or Roth IRA.
I think the benefit overweights the very limited paperwork.
