Makita battery is better (also the charger has a fan, very fast charging, very thoughtful, Li-on battery dislike heat most). Other differences are subtle and can be biased. Both are well built, no doubt, it's mainly personal preference. Makita inspires me better.
My contractor uses Makita drills as well. We both like it. He recently saw the Makita recip saw (Antivibration) and used it and very impressed and ask me to buy one for him.
Some ppl say, in general, whatever Dewalt makes, makita makes it better. Maybe true, maybe not. But as a handylord, I stick to Makita.
