A scratch caused by washing car will NEVER break.
FYI, if it is the wind shield (front window) that consists of two layers of glass and one layer of plastic, it won't hurt if the outter glass is totally broken through. IT WILL NOT HURT a bit. Two of my cars have it, I don't even notice the 4 feet long ones while I am driving now.
You are driving the car, not the window.
