Installation of new composition roof will then proceed in the following approximate order:
- install new 1” x 3” starter metal at eaves
- attach lifetime synthetic underlayment
- install ice and water barrier around all roof penetrations prone to leaks
- install “W” valley metal
- install starter in valleys 2” off center to provide better protection and a cleaner, more aligned look
- install 1 3/8” dripedge
- install a starter layer around all eave and gable edges
- install Certainteed Landmark architectural shingles
- install new leads and rain caps around 1 1/2” and 4” vent pipes and electrical mast
- reflash chimney with backpan, roof to wall, step and “chim-5” flashing
- install new base flashing and storm collar on 5” B-vent
- install new 4” and 6” flapper vents
- install Shinglevent II continuous ridge vent or 8 attic hood vents
- install Mountain Ridge high profile ridgecap
- paint pipe penetrations with rustproof paint to match color
All gutters and downspouts will be cleaned and checked to be in good operating condition. A detailed final cleanup using magnets will also be performed by the crew.
