If your asset is in normal range,this is my understanding. However, I am not responsible if thing turns out different from my understanding.

I had a friend whose income is in the range of manageable to make his AGI under 50K, and he took my suggestion.  His kid's financial aid package covers basically everything in a private college. 

I have no idea if the parent has business/rent...
