澄清一下，不是我 rich BSO, 我是很抠的

没有HOA我不买，HOA fee 太高的我也不买

HOA 的本意是为人民服务的。如果HOA fee 不高，你可以看到其效果（这个从社区的facilities 和外表就可以体现出来），why not?

在我看过的众多社区中，至少我有这个印象：没有HOA的（二十年以上哈）无论是社区外表，社区人民的素质，租金，房价都比附近同样社区但是有HOA的差。HOA收的银子大多数是用在了该用的地方。人们为什么要成立HOA，难道是要花钱把自己的房子自己的社区搞坏？你到中国印度小镇农村看看，没有HOA， 各家各搞各的，房屋千奇百怪，不堪入目。我今天去看了一个我们 San Diego 的社区，没有HOA， 几乎没有一家门前有草 ：）

当然，目前很多新的社区，尤其是糖耗子， HOA奇高无比，这种我是肯定不买的。加州还有一个 Mello Roos，这个玩艺可是要跟你一辈子的(well, 30 yrs typically, how many 地主 can out live that? :). 所以我告诉我的 agent：HOA + Mello Roos 超过$200的房子我不看。Fees 高的，一旦房子空置，你就天天大流血，恐怖。

我目前的 HOA fee is ~ $100 and I enjoy an Olympic size pool, a few first class tennis courts, a few play gounds with basket courts， a well equiped gym and club house that is functional and huge, and the landscape of the community is professionally maintained. 物超所值！I think it costs more than $100/month to join 24 Hr Fitness :)

是的，到目前为止， I have not yet been burnt by HOA. I have been charged late fee a couple of times but it was my fault. No complaint.
