need bit more detail, do you have AC now?

1. a-coil can use across different brands if same refrigerant, but not universal in size, some company makes it fit small variations, like 2-2.5 ton or 2.5-3 ton, but to mostly to specify size...if you changing from r22 to r410a, you will need a new a-coil.

2. the model number usually tells what is size, serial number tells manufacturing date and/or both.

3. what is $1000 includes? labor $500 is not bad...
