No one can be sure of when bull or bear market will strike, even if we will have a big correction in 2 or 3 years, the price after big correction may still be higher than now if we have a bull market in the coming years. for a youg person, it is always better to invest in index funds/mutual fund/individual stocks than to put in cds. It is proved in academic world. In current world, only inflation is sure, bull or bear market? hard to say. We all know we have energy crisis, if this crisis erupts, inflation will be very high, even if you want to put your money in the bank, you should put it in saving account, whose interest rate is not much different from CD.

I am firmly against bonds, CDs, ... all investment tools with fixed return for long term.
