税率上终于赢了Romney一把

美国的总统选举正如火如荼，共和党内的竞争者挖隐私，比口才，难解难分。最让俺津津乐道的是终于把Romney这样的top 0.01%的大财主给挖了出来--他才交14%的effective tax rate呢。好，咱中产能不能比他的税率少一点？

 

今年的交税日子又来了，到上周末终于收集全了所有的表格。周日等橄榄球超级杯赛的时候，拿出笔纸计算机，一项一项的计算开了。不错不错，加上payroll tax, 俺去年终于打败了Romney。不包括payroll tax 的effective tax rate如下：只算AGI是2.1%；全工资计算是1.5%。Payroll Tax去年是10.4% （雇员的4.2%加上雇主的6.2% match）。所以，俺的effective tax rate去年终于少于Romney的14%了。

 

去年的税率再次得益于几项credit。女儿大学的最后一年俺拿到了2500块的American Opportunity credit,儿子的child credit和从2441表上来的dependent care credit。没有这些credit俺就要比Romney高几个百分点了。

 

展望明年，女儿大学毕业，儿子满十三，上面的三项credit就少了两项，外加女儿要找到工作，俺还要少一个人头deduction， 在effective tax rate上明年要打败Romney就有难度了。更不要说美国政府在三月之后是不是还会保持目前的payroll tax rate。自己看了一下数字，今年年初也作了一些调整，除非启动457退休计划，不然是不可能的任务。和太太商量了一下，还是决定今年给美国政府多作点贡献：放弃启动457计划。看来，去年打败Romney的记录只能是昙花一现了。
