Keep in mind that all parents' money are counted, no matter whether they maaired or divorced.

There is another way, which might fit for all landlord--reduce your AGI to under 50K. Fro what I read, if your AGI is under 50k, all yor asset is counted as zero in the EFC formula. However, this is for "normal" situation. For Landlord, I am not sure.:).
