其实美国的真正的穷人并不多

虽然统计讲美国贫困人口是15%，其实真正的数据比这个低，因为贫困的定义为四口一家年收入为$24k，不包tax credit， food stamps 等政府的补助。

我以为$24k 是可以有基本的生活保障的。多数流落街头的是吸毒酗酒或有精神问题的。(there are shelters run by government and non-government entities, but some people choose to stay homeless in the streets)

老年人俩口政府补每年$15k，政府医疗保险，可以过得不错的。

现在挣$50k，交ss，以后的ss退休金与吃政府的补助也差不了多少。唯一的好处是拿补助的必须呆在美国，拿ss的可自由的去想呆的地方。
