It doesn't sound like your family has the resources to take much risk.  Think risk as if you or your hubby loses job, or get serious medical conditions?  Which option would allow you to get through such a hit?

And getting kids in a good school is great.  it doesn't relieve parents from spending tons of time with them though.  Would you have the same amount of time and energy on the kids if you have to tend a rental property often?
