some thoughts after seeing bros and sis posts about stress in life due to job loss, working on rental etc.
just want to put things in perspective.
say you earn $100k/year, it takes a $2m bond portfolio with 5% return to generate the same income. so your human capital worths $2m just from the earning power alone.
Plus you are also a son/daughter/wife/hubby/mom/dad/friend/member of the community.... I'd at least triple the $2m to put a true value on your human capital.... so you are valued at $6m.
compared to all the other investments (say a $60k rental house), how much attention are you paying to this $6m asset?
Probably too little.
I think I am gonna write a book to put a number on all the fuzzy aspects in life.
