Take it easy. You should be fine

等你收到新的court date的通知,你尽管上庭就好了。

这种eviction的小case,没有多少lawyer会接,跟你的deadbeat耗上半天在法院,才收几百刀,没多少人愿意干。只要你证据充足,有documentations,该做的你也做了,你自己跟deadbeat上庭就好了,反正事实是deadbeat没有交租。如果不放心,出庭的当天到会有些intern lawyers提供免费法律咨询,你可以consult他们。

反正你只要follow the law, 做了你该做的,没什么大不了的,believe in yourself and trust the juridical system that would give you a fair judgement.

我这几年里,和房客上了3次庭,我都赢了。最近一次把国人房客为125刀的垃圾费告了上庭,国人房客最后一个月没交租,走后留了一大堆垃圾在sidewalk上,town的trash pickup没给拿走,还叫房东24小时内要把垃圾处理掉,我只好找private trash company把垃圾拿走,写了信给国人房客,付上invoice,叫他们付125刀,国人房客给我留了言,说“这不关我们的事,你有上court,没问题,我们跟你奉陪到底”。本来想自己人,就算了吧,but later on I realize that I have to do something about it and let them know that there is a law in this country. And I have to protect my own interests and teach them a lesson. Otherwise they would do the same thing to the future landlords. 我就把垃圾的照片和写给他们的信做为证据,把国人房客告上庭,法官根据事实 (they left the trash behind), 判我赢了。

只要你有证据和事实,你是按照法律程序做的,上庭没什么可怕的。
