the key is still the read on the general direction.
to me it's really about balancing the allocation, and smooth out the equity curve, with some bias on the direction.... during the april-September period I was selling both calls and puts..... but now only selling puts....
the reason is that I want to generate some returns on the 'idling' cash, but don't want to commit to the point that a price drop will cause a big valley in my equity curve..
it actually shouldn't matter as I am gonna work till 70 anyway, but you know I like to be a smart ass.
