从"金色"到"绿色"再回到"金色"的变色龙

曾经在次贷危机中获利甚丰的对冲基金经理约翰·保尔森(John Paulson)最近的运气不太好,他重仓银行股和公司重组股的旗舰基金在2010年第二季度亏损了12%,只有他的黄金基金上升了18%.

保尔森公司的报告披漏,保尔森聘请了前美国联邦储备委员会主席格林斯潘为保尔森公司的顾问,而格林斯潘在帮助保尔森公司"理解金融政策,货币供应,通货膨胀,和黄金价格之间的关系"以及"预测黄金未来价格和把握投资黄金的时机"上起到了重要的作用.换言之,原来是格林斯潘促使保尔森大量买进黄金和与黄金有关联的证券,从而使保尔森黄金基金获利非浅.

"Lastly, and perhaps most important, from a monetary policy perspective in developing an ability to forecast the timing and future price of gold we believe we have an unparalleled team. Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan has been extremely helpful to us in understanding the relationship between the monetary base, the money supply, inflation and gold prices."

如此看来,格林斯潘真是个城府很深的变色龙.他在担任美国联邦储备委员会主席之前是货币金本位的拥护者,他在1966年的文章“黄金与经济自由”中指出，“没有金本位，就没有办法保护储蓄免受通货膨胀的侵蚀，也就没有了安全的价值储存方式。”

可是在他担任美国联邦储备委员会主席的其间,格林斯潘摇身一变,屡屡通过降低利率去刺激货币供应的扩大,造成了高科技股票和房地产市场两个泡沫的形成.

没有人比格林斯潘更了解货币供应的无限扩大对美元长期购买力的侵蚀和损害了.可以说,在担任公职之前倡导金本位的格林斯潘和之后推动保尔森大举投资黄金的格林斯潘是真实的忠于本色的"金色的"格林斯潘,而担任美国联邦储备委员会主席其间的格林斯潘就像是一个老奸巨滑的变色龙,不得不披上迷惑他人的一层"绿色"保护色罢了.
