What makes Great Depression so great was not stock market crash, it was 1931 Sovereign Debt default that wiped out all who thought they were smart to escape the stock crash, they lost every thing in bond. (Sounds familiar today??)
Eventually British defaulted on their bond, the hot money rushed in the US went out just as quick. FDR devalued the USD....
Debt to stock ratio is 10:1 now. Whoever may escape the stock market decline better watch out their bond holdings. :)
Stock crash may recover (in worth less) currency, bond default will be gone forever, 401k, IRA, etc., etc. ...
A little history
