It was not immediately clear what benchmarks Wang was citing.
Meta has largely lagged AI offerings from OpenAI and Anthropic, despite spending billions of dollars on chips, data centers, and acquiring talent.
The company had released its Muse Spark model in April, which was seen performing well on benchmarks but still falling short of rival offerings.
The company has aggressively pursued ramping up its AI offerings, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg personally overseeing development. Zuckerberg had hired Wang last year to lead Meta’s AI division.
