The University of Toronto (U of T) recently attracted three prominent US scholars for the 2026-27 academic year: astrophysicist Sara Seager, innovation economist Jacquelyn Pless (both from MIT), and Stanford economist Mark Duggan, who will lead the Munk School. This move follows earlier recruitment of Yale professors Timothy Snyder, Marci Shore, and Jason Stanley, who left the U.S. due to concerns over the political climate and threats to higher education under the Trump administration.
