退休真好, 选对了退休的地方和房子

 

在美国职场共工作了快32年 2025 年圆满退休了.  我先自己住在Florida 的退休房里. 这几个月的生活感觉特别好, 非常舒心, 绝对自由, 做自己想做的事, 不用做自己不愿的事, 没有任何外界可能带来的压力, 不开心.

 

现在回头看了我在2022 年写的关于害怕退休的博文 (回顾人生,对老了退休的恐惧), 觉得自己挺可笑的, 也许当时是害怕没有经历过的.  其实只要热爱生活, 有足够的经济基础, 55岁以上就可以退休了, 做自己的主人. 退休, 真好!  不过年轻时还是要有事业, 能为社会做贡献.

 

我虽今年退休, 但从2019年就开始考虑在哪里退休买房子. 首先考虑的要暖和的地方, 即没有estate tax 也没有inheritance tax 的州. 一开始选定了Georgia 和Florida 两个州. 去GA看了看, 没什么吸引力, 夏天热冬天也挺冷. 锁定了FL州, 但具体住哪里, 还是做了一番研究选择. 最后选在Orlando 附近, 主要是为了避免常有的hurricane, 再有是离Disney 近. 

 

我们2023 年买的退休房, 在没有实地观看, 只是根据网上的照片和3D, 我们就 made offer. 在home inspection 的时候我们一家才从东部飞到FL看了房子. 结果实地看房子和在网上看到的没有任何二样. 从offer 到closing 不到一个月.  这房子是我喜欢的类型, 二层楼, 楼下有一个bedroom with full bathroom. 有swimming pool, backyard 有好的view, 没有直对的房子. 另外一个重要的是小区安全, 有club house, 有很好的健身房. 我现在做了在工作期间无法做的事: 早上70 分钟走步,50 分钟练重量.
