In my state, I am not sure you have a case against the management. But NC may be different. They are huge, fighting with them can be very costly and the outcome is uncertain.
The local management is all human though. Communicate, communicate and communicate. If it does not get anywhere, try to sub lease to someone else. Your monthly rent is 10500/15 = 700. If you are willing to lower it to 600, may be someone will want to rent from you. You will come up with the difference, which is $1500. That is s lot cheaper than court costs.
Or you can offer a lump sum to get out of the lease. At certain dollar amount, they will take it.
