From my impression (which mostly wrong, like all impression from everybody), tax rate in Canada is higher than that in the US. But from your tax bracket comparing the US, the result could be different

Federal tax rate

Canada: １５％ ，２２％，２６％, ２９％
US: 10%, 15%, 25%, 28%,33%, 35% (this year)
will be 10%, 15%, 25%, 28%,36%, 39.6% soon

eveyone says poor people taxed more in the US, while wealthy people taxed more in Canada, but reality check, the poorest bracket in Canada taxed 15%, while in the US only 10%, the richest bracket in Canada 29%, while 35% (39.6% soon) in the US.
