It does not hurt trying.

I received a letter once when I was selling condo units. The letter goes like this:

"We are a group of investors interested in your condos. As a group, we can take up to W units. We know you bought them at X dollars per unit, and we think if you make Y dollars, it is pretty reasonable. Therefore, we are offering X+Y dollars for W units."

The only problem is, X+Y is grossly less than my asking.

But it may hit someone's hot button somehow, you never know, so it never hurts to try.
