I've never really taken her words seriously.

She is very senior. She has lots of experiences in investing. however, if she is really good at what she wants to invest, either she would have ended up with running a venture capital or likes, or running a tech driven hedge fund. Both positions reward the great investors, either in the primary market or in the secondary market.

Obviously she is not one of the lucky ones. She has to raise capital from retail investors, meaning she has to self promote and loudly advocate her ideas to the mass public. She can make money but not her investors.
