I was trying to make an offer. My agent added this fee to the contract and asked me (buyer) to pay. I challenged her right away, since it was not on the contract for another house I was tyring to buy through a different broker.
One possibility is what RE8888 said. I am also thinking, my agent might be using an office secretary to handle the transaction documents. I thought this is her job and she will get commission at the end. If she is not doing it, then SHE should pay the secretary, not me! It was dropped from the contract by her boss, who was representing the seller. Obviosuly, this is NOT a charge imposed by her real estate firm! After the deal failed, I fired her.
