墙内电线被老鼠啃了怎么修

长话短说，两层楼的独立屋，每层各一个空调系统。高温天气下二楼空调不启动了，找了两家公司花费1000多刀找原因，最后结论是某个地方的电线应该是被老鼠之类的咬坏了。现在其中一家公司建议屋外走线，把电线放在一个pvc管子里，直接从compressor通到阁楼外面，然后阁楼外打个洞，把线牵进去。虽然这个主意省钱也简单，但是不解决真正问题，而且房子外面凭空多了一根管子，以后卖房子也麻烦。这个公司说也可以在屋里开墙查线，但是他们怕弄坏房子structure， 有liability，不愿意做这个方案。求问有没有人经历过类似问题？有没有特殊仪器可以检测到墙内电线是否断裂？
