liabiliy = 责任（你肇事后的伤害） liability insurance = 责任险。

Landlord insurance covers property and liability related to the rental property. 

auto insurance covers property and liabiility related to your car.

homeowner insurance covers property and liability related to your home

Umbrella insurance covers only liability ABOVE the coverage of the underlying insurance. 

A typical umbrella insurance would say:

I cover the liabilty up to X million, and excedding the coverage of following plans:

auto insurance A, home owner insurance B,  landlord insurance C, D, ....
